His late father, Astolfo, was an Atlanta Braves fan and encouraged Ender to play and pursue a career in baseball.


In his first season in the Braves organization and his third campaign at the major league level, produced a .291 (152-for-522) batting average with 24 doubles, a team-leading seven triples and 16 stolen bases, and 85 runs scored in 131 games...Earned his first Gold Glove award following the season…Tied for the lead among all major league centerfielders with four double plays logged…Collected 14 outfield assists, tied for third most in MLB (second in the NL) and four off the lead...Opened the year by playing in the teams' first three games of the season (.250, 2-for-8) before landing on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain on 4/9...Missed 26 games before returning to action on 5/7...Batted .227 (52-for-229) in 59 games prior to the All-Star break, before producing one of the top performances in a second-half of a season in Atlanta franchise history (since 1966)...Produced a .341 (100-for-293) batting average post All-Star break, the 13th highest mark in Atlanta-franchise history (since 1966)...Ranked in the top five in the Majors in several offensive categories after the All-Star break including tied for second in runs scored (59 and with teammate Freddie Freeman), third in hits (100), and fifth in batting average (.341, 100-for-293) and at-bats (293)...His .396 on-base percentage ranked ninth in the Majors.
